In a great team effort, the Lightning Varsity volleyball team won an exciting conference match over the Rosemount Irish, 3 sets to 1 tonight. After mounting a massive comeback that came up just short in the first set, the Lightning Varsity volleyball team poured it on at the start of the second and never looked back, winning the second set 25-18 and the third set 25-15. The Irish had multiple six point leads in the 4th set, but the Lightning closed the gap and took the lead near the end. After a couple of amazing rallies, the Lightning finished off the match, winning 25-23. Junior right side hitter Lauren Crowl led the offense with 16 kills and junior middle blocker Mac Dose chipped in with 9 kills and a .412 efficiency. Junior outside Emma Grimm led the team with 19 digs and 3 aces. Senior setter Hanna Anderson dished out 44 assists in the win.
Tonight’s match was Fan Appreciation night, and the fans for both schools were into the match all night long. A hearty thank you goes out to the Eastview Super Fans who kept cheering and supporting all night long! Thanks for your amazing energy!
The win moves the Lightning to 4-0 in the South Suburban and extends their winning streak to five matches. The team is back in action this Thursday night when they travel to Lakeville North to take on the Panthers.
