The Lightning Varsity volleyball team bounced back Tuesday night with a big win over the Huskies from Owatonna. The Lightning used great team defense, smart setting, and tough serving to shoot out of the gate in the first set, cruising to a 25-10 victory. The second set started slow, with the Huskies taking a 5 point lead, but the team tied the set at 9-9 and kept on rolling for the 2nd set win. The team kept control of the match in the 3rd, closing out the Huskies 25-16. Senior Libero Caylee Christian led the team from the service line with 5 aces, while Lauren Crowl and Camille Roe led the attack with 12 and 7 kills respectively. Junior middle blocker Drea Bates led the defense at the net with 7 blocks. Sophomore setter-hitter Tia Diamond posted 21 assists, 4 aces, and a .556 hitting efficiency in the win as well.
The team jumps back into action on Thursday against St. Louis Park at home. Varsity match time is 7pm.
