The Lightning varsity girls closed out a solid tournament with an exciting 2-1 win over the host Hopkins Royals. The Lightning came out strong in the first and used tough defense, tough serving, and smart hitting to close out the set. The Royals came back in the 2nd set and held on to win, evening the match at a set a piece. For the second time on the day, the Lightning charged out of the gate in the 3rd set opening a 4 point lead. The Royals charged back, but the Lightning fought through winning the set and the match.
The win put the Lightning varsity girls in 3rd place, finishing with a 3-1 record for the day. The team was led on offense by Lauren Crowl, Emma Grimm, and Tia Diamond. Caylee Christian anchored the back row defense, while Camille Roe led the team with 5 blocks.
