Tuesday evening saw the Eastview girls’ lacrosse team lose a conference match-up against Lakeville South 8-13. Weather was a factor for the entire game with both teams easing into their offensive schemes. Early goals by Annie Luzum, Jessica Wilhelm and Kayla Doyle gave Eastiew a 3 to 2 lead with 11:38 left in the first half. Lakeville South’s offense got on track soon afterwards to score the next three goals over the next five minutes to take a 5 to 3 lead. Luzum would score her second goal of the game to pull the Lightning to within one goal with 6:26 left to play in the first half. The Cougars would get a late goal to take a 6 to 4 lead into the intermission.
Two quick goals by Lakeville South provided an 8 to 4 lead five minutes into the second half. Wilhelm would get hot on a cold and dreary afternoon, scoring the next three goals to pull Eastview to within one goal to trail 7 to 8 with 15:03 left in the game. The Cougars would methodically take control of the game scoring the next three goals to increase their lead to 11 to 7. Wilhelm would score her fifth goal of the game with 6:23 left to play to provide a lift to the Lightning. But, Lakeville South would respond scoring the final two goals of the game to secure the 13 to 8 victory.
The Lightning next travel to Woodbury to play East Ridge in a rescheduled game, Friday May 24th at 5:00 PM.
