Friday evening the Eastview girls’ lacrosse team finished their regular season with a win over East Ridge 11-8. The Lightning took control of the game early. Chloe Benadum scored the first goal of the game for Eastview on a nice drive down the middle of the Raptors defense. Mackenzie Chvatal followed with a nice dodge and score to stake Eastview to a 2 to 0 lead with 18:23 left in the fist half. East Ridge scored the next goal to pull to within one goal. The Lightning would score the next four goals. Annie Luzum started the run with a drive down the middle of East Ridge’s defense. Chvatal would score on a feed from Jessica Wilhelm to increase the Eastview lead to 4 to 1. Wilhelm would score next on a feed from Benadum with 8:52 left in the half. Megan Bateman would score on a drive that she initiated from her position behind the Raptor’s net to claim a 6-1 lead with 4:22 left in the first half. East Ridge would score late in the first half, but Eastview took a 6 to 2 lead into the intermission.
East Ridge started the second half scoring early to cut into the Lightning lead. The Lightning would score the next three goals, however. Claire Jordahl would score while cutting to the net where Kayla Doyle found her for the goal. Wilhelm would score next on a free position opportunity. Luzum would score with 15:00 left in the game to increase the Lightning lead to 9 to 3. The Raptors would make a run over the next nine minutes scoring five goals to pull to within one goal to trail 8 to 9 with 6:53 left in the game. Kyla Palo would end the East Ridge run, taking advantage of the middle of the Raptor’s defense on her drive and finish. Wilhelm would score with 3:36 left in the game to claim the 11 to 8 victory.
The Lightning host Holy Angels, Wednesday May 29th at 4:00 PM to start their Section tournament.
