Lauren Johnson led the way for the Lightning, turning aside 36 shots as the girls beat conference and section rival Eagan 4-1. Johnson’s stellar play landed her Eastview’s player of the game.

Avery Chesek put the Lightning on the board at 7:55 of the first period, with an assist to Natalie Bordson. At 11:36 of the first, the Lightning capitalized on the power-play when Chesek struck again and Nora Stepan notched the assist. The Lightning tallied a 3rd first period goal when Jessica Wilhelm potted one from the point at 16:11 and Chloe Benadum picked up the assist. After one, it was 3-0 Eastview.

There was no scoring in the second as Johnson turned away 12 shots.

At 12:35 of the 3rd, Mikayla Kelley gave the Lightning a 4-0 lead when she took a relay from Wilhelm and Stepan and found the back of the net. Eagan poked one in on the power-play with 4 seconds remaining to make the final 4-1.

The win moves the Lightning to 12-4-2 on the season. Next up, conference and section rival Rosemount. The Irish visit AVSA on Saturday, January 11. The JV plays at 4:00 and the Varsity at 6:00. It is youth day! All EVHA players who wear their jersey to the game get free admission.
