The Eastview Varsity Girls Basketball team opened up 2018 on a positive note as they moved to 11-0 overall, and 4-0 in the South Suburban Conference with a 72-49 win Friday night over Prior Lake. The Lightning once again had a balanced attack on offense, as all five starters finished in double figures. Megan Walstad and Mariah Alipate each finished with a double double, while Andrea Abrams finished just one rebound short of what would have been a third double double on the night. Walstad led the scoring attack as she finished with 17 points. Walstad also finished with 14 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 assists. This is Walstad’s 3rd straight double double, and 5th on the year. Alipate followed with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks. This was Alipate’s first career double double. Abrams, Emma Carpenter, and Macy Guebert followed with 12, 12, and 11 points respectfully. Carpenter led the team with 7 assists, as well as grabbing 3 rebounds, while Guebert dished out 4 assists. As previously mentioned, Abrams finished just 1 rebound shy of a double double as she finished with 9 rebounds, as well as having 2 assists and 2 steals. Courtney Carson finished with 4 points, while Jordan Morris chipped in 3 points to round out the scoring for Eastview. Carson also grabbed 6 rebounds, while Morris had 2 rebounds and took a big charge on the defensive end. Cassidy Carson also had 2 steals for the Lightning.
