The Eastview Lightning Girls Varsity basketball team was able to keep their season going as they were able to beat the Hastings Raiders, 61-39 in the Section 3-4A semi-final round on Saturday night. The Lightning shot just 40% from the field, but their defense once again carried the load, holding the Raiders to their second lowest scoring output of the year (their lowest is also thanks to Eastview from the first matchup this year on 12/30). The Eastview defense was able to hold the Raiders to 29% shooting, as well as forcing 23 turnovers. Eastview once again had three girls in double figures, led by Mariah Alipate and Macy Guebert who finished with 19 and 18 points respectively. Alipate also grabbed 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Guebert finished an impressive 7/9 from the field, including hitting 4 3 pointers. Guebert also finished with a team high 5 assists, as well as grabbed 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Emma Carpenter followed with 10 points of her own. Carpenter also grabbed a team high 4 steals, as well as dished 2 assists. Cassidy Carson finished with 7 points, 2 rebounds 2 assists, while Andrea Abrams finished with 4 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Megan Walstad finished with a team high 9 rebounds to go along with 2 points, while Lauren Glas finished with 4 rebounds and 1 point. With the win, Eastview is now 28-0 on the season.
Eastview returns to the court on Wednesday, March 7th in the Section finals at Concordia University St Paul. The Lightning face off against #3 Apple Valley who played and beat #2 Park, 35-33 on Saturday night. Game is at 7:00 pm.
