Congratulations to the Eastview Lightning Girls Basketball team as they became the Section 3AAAA Champions! The Lightning defeated the Apple Valley Eagles 40-25 on Wednesday night to advance to the AAAA State Tournament. Both teams had a slow start to the game in the defensive battle, but a strong second half for Eastview, outscoring the Eagles 26-14 was all the top seed needed to leave with the win. The Lightning were led by two double figure finishers as Macy Guebert finished with 14 points and Megan Walstad finished with 10 points. Guebert also had 2 rebounds and 2 assists, while Walstad finished with a team high 7 rebounds. Mariah Alipate and Emma Carpenter followed with 6 points each. Alipate also finished with 4 rebounds, while Carpenter finished with a team high 4 steals as well as 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Andrea Abrams finished with 3 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, while Cassidy Carson rounded out the scoring with 1 point to go along with 2 steals. Lauren Glas also chipped in 2 rebounds and 2 steals for Eastview. The Lightning are now 29-0 on the season.
This is the 7th straight State Tournament birth for Eastview!
The Lightning will begin State Tournament play this Wednesday, March 14th at the Target Center. The girls received the #1 seed and will face off against the unseeded Prior Lake Lakers. This will be the 3rd time this year that the Lightning and Lakers face off. Eastview won both previous matchups 72-49 and 64-35. Game time is set for 10:00 p.m. Come out and support your Lightning girls as they look to advance on in the State Tournament!

#1 Eastview vs. Prior Lake – 10:00
#4 Lakeville North vs. #5 Maple Grove – 12:00
#2 Hopkins vs. Forest Lake – 2:00
#3 Cretin-Derham Hall vs. Roseville – 4:00
* All quarterfinal games are played on Wednesday and at Target Center
* Quarterfinal winners will play in the semifinals at 6:00 and 8:00 on Thursday, March 15th at Target Center
* Quarterfinal losers will move to the Consolation bracket and will play at 10:00 and 12:00 on Thursday March 15th at Concordia University
