The Lightning Varsity Baseball team defeated Mahtomedi in their regular season finale 5-2. Kathan Decker and Caden EspindaBanick combined to pitch 4 innings of no hits and no runs in relief. Decker also collected 2 hits to lead the Lightning offense and EspindaBanick chipped in by driving in 2 of the Lightning’s 5 runs. The Lightning finished the regular season with a 15-5 record and earned a #1 seed in the upcoming section tournament. The Lightning’s opening round playoff game will be this Monday at 3 PM against Park of Cottage Grove at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville.
