The Eastview Boys Swim and Dive team capped off a week of celebrating their coach’s 100-season milestone by handing him a decisive victory with a 91-61 win over Burnsville. The meet was held at home. Individual highlights follow:
In varsity events, Eastview’s 200 medley relay team of Kunisaki, Phomsouvanh, Gloege Torp, and Blodgett took first; team Poppitz, Lambert, Chambers, and Getman came in second; and team Lilly, Olson, Desutter, and Dunne placed fourth. In the 200 free, Panikkar, Espena, and Klein placed, first, second, and fourth, respectively. In the 200 IM Getman touched the wall first and Fox was second. Blodgett and Lambert placed first and second in the 50 free, while DeSutter came in fourth. In the butterfly, Kunisaki was first, Lambert third, and Phomsouvanh was fourth. Poppitz and Lilly took first and third place, respectively, in the 100 free. In their debut appearance in the 500, swimmers Blodgett, Gloege Torp, and Chambers placed first, second, and third, respectively. Eastview also commanded in the 200 free relay, with team Panikkar, Phomsouvanh, Poppitz, and Kunisaki in first and team DeSutter, Billion, Fox and Dunne in second place. The remaining varsity events were exhibition.
The JV squad also won their match against Burnsville, by a score of 79 to 41. The JV 200 medley relay team of Jackson, Billion, Jerome, and Fox placed first. in the 200 free, Yalamamchili was first, Kirshbaum was second and Holmen third. Gloege Torp and Billion took first and second, respectively, in the 200 IM. In the 50 free, Jackson and Dunne placed first and second, respectively, with Afifi, Dalzell, Lu, and Wood in fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh places. Moser and Yalamamchili took the top two spots in the 100 free, while team Afifi, Wood, Lu, and Field raced for a first place finish in the 200 free relay. In the breaststroke, Billion and Tadesse placed first and second, respectively. In the final race of the evening, team Wood, Lu, Moser, and Yalamamchili placed first in the 400 relay.
