News · Eastview Names 2020-21 Athena Award Winner

Congratulations to Eastview senior Cassidy Carson for being named Eastview High School’s recipient of the Athena Award in 2020-21.  Cassidy has been a very successful athlete in both golf and basketball.  In golf Cassidy is on track to be a 5 time letter winner, 4 time All-Conference selection, 2 time captain and a one time State Participant.  In basketball she is a 5 time letter winner, 4 time All-Conference, 3 time All-State, 3 time State Tournament participant, 2 time captain and a part of the 2018 State Championship team.  She will graduate amongst the top five all time in school history in rebounds, steals, blocks and assists.  She will be playing Division 1 basketball next year at the University of South Dakota and plans to double major in accounting and finance.   The Athena Award is awarded to the “outstanding senior female athlete” in each school. The award is based on excellence in individual sports or for participation and accomplishments in team sports. Athena is the Goddess of Wisdom and Skills. She was brave and possessed the essence of all that is noble. Legend tells us that she possessed the gifts of dignity, power, and youth, making her invincible. Cassidy will be recognized at the St. Paul Athena Award banquet on Wednesday, April 21st. Congratulations to Cassidy, and all of our Athena Award finalists, on such outstanding careers at Eastview and a huge thanks to all who helped with this very challenging selection process.
