Congrats to Hunter Dunne and Rhea Rajvansh who were selected as this year’s representatives from Eastview in this the Minnesota State High School League State Competition. ExCEL – Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership – is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who are model citizens.
This year we had not only a very high number of candidates reach “finalist” status, but an extremely talented group as well, which made the selection process this year even more challenging. This is a great testament to the Eastview High Class of 2022 and the number of outstanding student leaders in the class.
Hunter is a three sport athlete in cross country, swim and dive and track and field and his athletics highlights include being an individual state qualifier and Academic All State award winner this fall in Cross Cross Country, was voted Most Improved last season in Swim and Dive and earned several awards including freshman of the year in his only track and field season thus far due to COVID. He is a perfect 4.0 student taking an extremely challenging academic load of all Honors and AP classes. At EVHS he is a member of the National Honor Society. In the community, he has earned the rank of Eagle Scout and is also an active volunteer in his church.
Rhea is an All-State Debater, 2nd chair in the Symphonic Band, a Varsity Speech team member and the programming captain of the Robotics Team. She carries a 3.947 GPA taking an all honors and AP courseload. At EVHS she is also involved in the school paper, Chinese Club, National Honor Society and is a student representative on the Community Ed Advisory Council. In the community she is involved in the Minnesota and Global Youth Councils and is the founder of chainreaction, a local non-profit, focused on exposing girls to STEM programming.
Congrats again Hunter and Rhea, you will represent us all very well and congrats again to all of our finalists!
An independent panel of judges from schools throughout Minnesota will select the state ExCEL Award recipients in late January. State ExCEL winners will be recognized on the MSHSL Website on or around February 1st.
