The boys track team had a terrific day at the section 3AAA true team meet finishing in 3rd place overall, with top 7 finishes in 14 of the 18 events on the day.
Angelo Paulucci continued his solid 2019 campaign with a 3rd place finish in the 300m hurdles and a 5th place finish in the open 200m. Paulucci also ran the third leg on Eastview’s 5th place 4x200m relay team. Paulucci’s teammates of Isaac Schiltz and Kole Peterson teamed up with AJ Green and Sam Morgenstern in the 4×400 m relay. Peterson ran a great lead-off leg handing the baton to Schiltz in first place. Schiltz ran a tough leg coming back on the field after several runners passed him on the first turn to hand off the baton in third place to Sam Morgenstern. Morgenstern immediately brought the Lightning into 2nd place and closed down on the runner ahead of him to hand-off the baton to AJ Green in a tie for first place. Green quickly took over the lead, never looking back (except with 25 m to go for some reason) and secured the victory for the Lightning.
Green also finished first in the 400m and 9th in the 200m. Despite battling a head cold, Morgenstern ran a new personal best time, and 4th best 800m in school history of 1:56.08 to take second place. Teammate Colby Rubischko was 7th in a new PR and Jesse Laursen finished 15th. In the 3200 Sam Setterlund had a near 30 second PR to finish in 7th place with a time of 10:21.
Spencer Ness was again the jumps kind setting a new personal record in the high jump of 6′ 4″ while teammates Josh Negussie and Devin Plitzkow each cleared 6′ for the first time in their careers. Ness also finished in 6th place in the long jump while Negussie finished in 5th place in the triple jump.
Jonathon Gomez ran a big PR in the 300m behind Paulucci, finishing in 5th placce with a time of 43.3 seconds. These two 300m hurdlers, along with senior Brady Schlaefer who finished in 13th, were the highest point scorers for the Lightning at today’s competition. Congratulations on a job well done
