The boys track and field team competed at Lakeville South this afternoon with Eagan high school. Highlighting the day for the Lightning was junior Angelo Paulucci who ran an almost 1.5 second PR to win the 300 hurdles with the 8th fastest time (42.39) run by a junior in school history. Paulucci backed up his performance in the 300 hurdles with victories 200m & 100m races as well. Freshman Cole Trinkle ran a solid time of 57.76 in the 400m for a 9th place finish.
In the distance events sophomore Sean Holmen had an awesome race, overpower the competition over the final 250m to run away with a first place finish in the second heat of the boys mile. His time of 5:18 is a new personal best. Breaking 6 minutes for the first time were freshman Ethan Taylor and sophomore David Schindler. In the first heat of the mile 5 of the 7 competitors ran new PRs. Having the biggest drop in time was freshman PJ Lasota who ran 5:07.62. Senior Jesse Laursen finished in 3rd place overall with a PR time of 4:53.43 while freshman teammate Hunter Dunne was right behind him in a time of 4:54.87.
In the field events senior Sam Erickson cleared 9′ 6″ just beating out the rain clouds that began accumulating overhead as his vault competition started to take off. His vault had him in a 4-way tie for 3rd place overall.
