Eastview Community: Lightning Dance Team State Tournament Information and Dance Team Permission Slip2019
The Lightning Dance Team placed first at the Section 1AAA Jazz Championships and second in the High Kick Championships on Saturday evening at Kennedy High School! They now advance to state in both events this Friday and Saturday (February 15-16) at the Target Center. The qualifying competition begins at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (Eastview is expected to compete at approximately 2:04 p.m.) and is expected to conclude around 4:30 p.m. The championship round of competition (teams in the top 6 during qualifying) is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. Ticket costs are $16 for adults and $10 for students for each day and can be purchased online with the AXS app.
As a result of the team qualifying here is the plan for students planning to attend the tournament as spectators:
This absence may be counted as a school authorized absence for 6th and 7th hour ONLY on Friday, by bringing the ticket stub/receipt from the Friday afternoon session AND your permit to leave form to the attendance office on Tuesday, February 19th before 7:30 a.m. If the ticket stub/receipt is not returned the absence will count toward the maximum absence policy.
Please NOTE: Due to the anticipated length of this event going until 9:30 p.m. Fan Buses will NOT be available so students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the event.
This form Dance Team Permission Slip2019 can be printed out (or you can pick one up at the Attendance Office) must be completed and returned to the attendance office before school, no later than 7:30 a.m. on Friday, February 15th. If this form is returned to the attendance office following the tournament, it will NOT be accepted. NO PHONE CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED AS PERMISSION FROM PARENTS FOR AN EXEMPT ABSENCE. STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MISSED CLASSWORK.
Congrats to all team members and coaches on another incredible accomplishment as this is the 20th straight year the team has advanced to state in BOTH High Kick and Jazz. Truly amazing. It is also the 31st Section Title (16 in Jazz and 15 in High Kick) for the program. It is the 15th straight Jazz Section Title and 16th in school history.
