The Eastview-Eagan Alpine Ski Team brought home plenty of hardware from the Buck Hill Invitational on Friday, where they competed against 16 other teams. Nearly every skier on the team put in two solid runs, which resulted in great team success. The skiers won the Overall Team Cup, the Varsity Cup, and the Junior Varsity Cup, in addition to finishing first in Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls, and JV Girls and second in JV Boys. Coach Zeilon was elated with the results as The Overall Team Cup takes into account all skiers, not just the top finishers of each team. The Eastview-Eagan Alpine team has proudly done very well in this event over the years, but the top spot eluded them until now.
The Varsity Girls champions were represented by 7th grader Megan Young in 16th place, freshman Katelyn McClure in 22nd, and senior Celeste Van Klein. The JV Girl champions were led by podium finishes from junior Caroline Oberle in 2nd and freshman Lilly Spade in 3rd. The JV Girls also had strong performances from senior Lillian Kurila (6th) and freshman Kylie Nelson (11th). Kurlila, in particular, had a great day on the hill after filling in just minutes before the race due to an injury during warm-ups.
The Varsity Boys champions were represented by sophomore Ryan Whalen in 9th place and Captain Ryan McClure in 21st. The JV Boys were represented by junior Andrew Casper in 20th place and 7th grader Grant Pugmire in 26th.
