News · ExCEL Award Winners Announced for 2018-19


After a great deal of deliberation the selection committee made up of teachers, counselors, coaches and advisors has selected the following winners to represent Eastview High School in the state level competition.

Congratulations to Eastview juniors Mimi Le and Sanat Iyer for being named Eastview High School’s nominees for the 2018-19 MSHSL Excel Award.  Mimi’s highlights include having a 3.95 GPA in all honors coursework, a state participant in both speech and debate, involved in the band program along with the badminton club at EVHS.  She is also a member of both NHS and the Spanish National Honor Society along with student council.  She is an extremely active volunteer in a number of different roles including the Minnesota Youth Council and the Legal Rights Center. Sanat’s highlights include being an All-Conference and All-Section soccer player, a member of the wind ensemble, a National Honor Society and LINC Leadership member with a 3.995 GPA and is an active volunteer at a number of community events.  Mimi and Sanat will represent Eastview High School very well in the state competition!

ExCEL – Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership – is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who are model citizens.  An independent panel of judges from schools throughout Minnesota will select the state ExCEL Award recipients in late  January. S tate ExCEL winners will be recognized on KSTC-TV (Channel 45) during the winter state tournaments.
