It was another exciting week in Eastview Athletics post-season competition. Here is a brief recap of the different post-season events from last week:
Football: The Lightning Football team wrapped up their season with the year end banquet. Special shout out to Kurt Pueschner who was named the Sub-District Assistant Coach of the Year! Girls Swim and Dive: The Lightning Girls Swim and Dive Team had a great State Meet at the U of M Aquatic Center! Claudia Dougan finished 3rd in the State in both the 100 and 200 Freestyle Events! Others joining her at the State Meet this week include Emily Heymans and Julia Stephenson in the 200 IM, The 200 IM Relay of Dougan, Heymans, Meredith Nord and Stephenson and the 400 Free Relay of Sydney Davids, Dougan, Heymans and Stephenson. Additional Relay alternates include Emma Bryant, Maggie Heymans, Lily Nikolova, Elsa Reilly and Elise Wiegele. Emily Heymans placed 16th overall in the 200 IM and the 400 Relay was 13th. PI Adapted Soccer: The PI Hawks Soccer Team had an incredible state tournament and finished as the State Runner-up! They finished the season 10-5 with three of the losses coming to eventual state champion St. Paul Humboldt. The Hawks defeated Anoka-Hennepin on Friday night at Stillwater High School by a score of 13-0 including a hat trick from our own Eddy Nelson! The Semis and Finals on Saturday were two classics with the Hawks defeating long-time rival Robbinsdale 2-1 in Overtime in the semis, before falling 5-4 in the State Championship game just hours later. The Lightning were represented on the team by Charlie Henderson, Eddy Nelson and Daniel Sonnenberg. Congrats on a GREAT season Hawks!
