Eastview Girls Basketball to State: Wednesday, March 14th at Target Center – Details Below and Linked on the Eastview Home Page.

Congratulations to the Eastview Varsity Girls Basketball Team who qualified for the State Tournament for the seventh consecutive year and eleventh time in school history with their 40-25 win over Apple Valley last Wednesday! The girls received the #1 seed at State and will play on Wednesday, March 14th at Target Center in the State Quarterfinals vs. unseeded Prior Lake at 10:00 a.m.  Fan Buses will be leaving after 1st hour at 8:20 a.m. and are scheduled to be returning to EVHS by 12:15 p.m. or so if all goes as scheduled.  As a result of the game time there will be an early release/exempt absence process. Please see below for the details.

Here is the plan for students planning to attend the tournament as spectators:

HERE IS THE PLAN FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING THE TOURNAMENT AS SPECTATORS: Advance Sale tickets will be available for purchase before and after school and during lunch on Monday and Tuesday and before school on Wednesday. Tickets are general admission and will also be available at Target Center, but purchasing them in advance will save you some potential long lines. Anyone riding a fan bus is encouraged to buy their game ticket in advance as the ticket windows can’t handle that much demand at one time. Cost of tickets for state tournament games is $14 for adults and $9 for students.

PERMISSION TO ATTEND FORM/FAN BUS SIGN-UP: We will offer fan buses that will depart EVHS at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday and return after the game (approximately 12:15 p.m.) Expected return time is 12:15, but please note this is an estimate and is NOT a guarantee given game lengths, travel etc.

The cost of the fan bus is $5 per person. Due to this entire event taking place during the school day, limited and expensive parking during a work day in downtown Minneapolis and safety of driving, riding a fan bus is strongly encouraged for all students planning on attending. Students interested in riding a fan bus must sign-up using the online Fee Pay system. Signing up online for the Fan Bus will also serve as your permission to attend form and NO OTHER PERMISSION SLIP IS NEEDED! Simply sign your child up online and they will be exempt for periods 2-5 on Wednesday to attend the game. Due to the quick turnaround of this trip, we encourage you to register early as seating will be limited and available on a first come, first served basis.  The deadline for registering for the fan bus will be 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13th or as space is available. This timeline is needed to order buses, arrange chaperones and purchase bus parking permits. We will likely have a very limited number of remaining fan bus seats available later on Tuesday or before school on Wednesday, but anyone waiting until then to sign-up is not guaranteed a spot on a bus AND would also still need a permission slip. We can’t order additional buses Wednesday morning with such a short turnaround time until departure. Everyone who rides the bus to the game is also required to ride it home.

PERMISSION SLIP TO ATTEND for those NOT riding a fan bus:  Select the following link: Girls Basketball Permission Slip 2018
This process is ONLY needed for student’s planning to attend the game, but NOT riding a Fan Bus. As mentioned above riding a Fan Bus is STRONGLY encouraged. A copy of the required permission slip for these students is Girls Basketball Permission Slip 2018, and also available at the Attendance Office. Students not riding a bus need to turn in their signed, hard copy permission slip to the Attendance Office or Designated Tables in the Commons on Tuesday before school, during lunch, after school or as a last resort Wednesday morning prior to 7:30 a.m. With a signed permission slip students will be dismissed AFTER First Hour on Wednesday at 8:20 a.m. and will be returning approximately 12:15 p.m. Students will miss hours 2-5.  As a result of the time, students attending the game will need to eat lunch on the bus or at Target Center. In addition, for students not riding a fan bus, the absence will be considered EXEMPT and not count towards the maximum absence policy only if they return their ticket stub and permit to leave form to the Attendance Office prior to 7:30 a.m. Thursday. If the permission form is returned to the Attendance Office following the tournament, it will NOT be accepted. NO PHONE CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED AS PERMISSION FROM PARENTS FOR AN EXEMPT ABSENCE. Students are responsible for all missed classwork.

SEMIS AND FINALS: With a win Wednesday the team will earn a trip to the State Semifinals at Target Center on Thursday, March 15th at approximately 6:00 p.m. vs. the winner of the #4 Lakeville North and #5 Maple Grove. The State Championship will be played Saturday evening at approximately 8:00 p.m. at Target Center. The 3rd place game is at 5:00 p.m. at Concordia-St. Paul.
