Eastview softball hosted their 17th annual Great 8 tournament this weekend at Johnny Cake fields. The Lightning opened the tournament with a 4-6 loss against Minnetonka, followed by a 7-0 win against Rogers and ended the tournament with another loss to Hopkins, losing 1-5. Eastview threw four pitchers over the three games, including sophomore Amber Roby, who had her first Varsity appearance. Roby had two complete innings against Hopkins, allowing only 2 hits, walking none and striking out one. Eastview also saw more consistency out of their bats this weekend with Brittni Tonnessen and Evy Polsfuss each having 5 hits and a double. Olivia Weinberg and Angel Dye also helped push the offense with 4 hits each. Dye also had her first triple of the year, while Abby Lien and Jessi DeCovich combined for 3 home runs. Eastview will be back in action again on Monday, hosting Apple Valley.
