Game Recap

The Eastview Varsity Girls Basketball team took on Lakeville North on Saturday afternoon in the State 4A 3rd place game. The Lightning and Panthers played a close 1st half, but the Lightning were able to outscore the Panthers 34-19 in the 2nd half to help bring home the 3rd place trophy, with a decisive 68-49 win! The Lightning finished with game shooting 43% from the field, 78% from the free throw line, and only having 8 turnovers as a team. Eastview was able to hold the Panthers to 31% shooting from the field, including 24% from beyond the 3 point arc.

Seniors Allie Pickrain and Rachel Ranke once again led the Lightning in scoring. Ranke finished with her 3rd double-double of the season, as she finished with a team high 21 points and 11 rebounds. Pickrain finished with 16 points, as well as a team high 6 assists, to go along with 2 rebounds. Megan Walstad also finished with a double-double, her 4th of the year, as she finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Andrea Abrams finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds, while Macy Guebert chipped in 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Emma Carpenter finished with 2 points for Eastview to round out the scoring. Miranda Crenshaw, Kierra Walker, and Claudia Pueschner all each played valuable minutes as well for the Lightning. Crenshaw finished with 3 rebounds, Walker finished with 2 assists, and Pueschner grabbed 2 rebounds.

Ranke and Walstad were both also named to the 4A State All-Tournament team. Ranke finished the State Tournament averaging a team high 20.3 points, shooting 41% from the field and 81% from the free throw line. Ranke also finished averaging 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Walstad followed and averaged 16.3 points, shooting 61% from the field and 81% from the free throw line. Walstad also finished averaging a team high 9.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks over the Lightnings 3 State games. Congratulations!

Eastview ends its season with a record of 25-7.

Special thank you to seniors Allie Pickrain, Claudia Pueschner, Rachel Ranke, Kierra Walker, and Miranda Crenshaw. 4 State Tournament appearances (1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 3rd place), 2 Conference Championships, and an impressive career 4 year record of 113-15 are basketball accomplishments to be incredibly proud of. A special thank you as well to senior managers Tia Donlan, Anya Yermishkin, and Niki Ung. The countless hours you have all dedicated to the program have not gone unnoticed. Wishing you all the very best in the future. We will miss you all!
