The Eastview Lightning Girls Varsity basketball team was able to keep their season going as they were able to beat the Hastings Raiders, 61-25 in the Section 3-4A semi-final round on Saturday night. The Lightning were able to shoot 51% from the field, dish out 18 assists, and snatch 14 steals in the win. The Eastview defense was able to hold the Raiders to 27% shooting, as well as forcing 24 turnovers. Eastview had a balanced attack on the offensive end, led by Allie Pickrain who finished with a team high 16 points. Pickrain also finished with 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Rachel Ranke followed with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Megan Walstad and Macy Guebert each finished with 8 points, while Walstad finished with a team high 6 rebounds and Guebert finished with a team high 6 assists. Walstad also finished with 4 blocks and 2 steals, while Guebert finished with a team high 4 steals, as well as grabbing 2 rebounds. Andrea Abrams finished with 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks for Eastview. Emma Carpenter (3 points, 2 assists), Claudia Pueschner (2 points, 2 rebounds), Lauren Glas (2 points), Miranda Crenshaw (1 point, 5 rebounds), and Kierra Walker (1 point, 3 steals) rounded out the scoring for the Lightning. With the win, Eastview is now 22-6 on the season.
Eastview returns to the court on Thursday, March 9th in the Section finals at Hamline. The Lightning face off against #3 Rosemount who played and beat #2 Apple Valley, 61-58 on Saturday night. Game is at 7:00 pm. Come out and cheer on the Lightning girls as they look to make it to the State Tournament! Go Lightning!
