The Eastview Boys Swim and Dive team opened up their season this past Friday with a splash, winning 101 to 83 over perennial powerhouse Prior Lake.
The varsity team delighted the crowd with many strong showings, however the highlight of the night had to be Greseth’s state qualifying time of 4:51:61 time in the 500.
Other varsity high points include first place finishes in the 200 Medley relay for team Montgomery, Pekarek, Reinhardt, and Gloege; first in the 200 free for Greseth; first in the 200 IM for Pekarek; first in the 100 butterfly for Reinhardt, first in the 100 free for Pekarek; first in the 200 relay for team Hagen, J. Poppitz, Reinhardt, and Greseth; first in the 100 back for Montgomery; and first in the 100 breaststroke for J. Poppitz.
In a night of many strong performances, the 200 medley relay team consisting of the Poppitz brothers, Lambert, and Hagen finished third and team Smith, Desutter, Lilly, and Robinson came in fifth. In the 200 free, Gray and St. Clair finished third and fourth, respectively. J. Poppitz came in third in the 200 IM, followed by Lambert in fourth. Gloege swam for a strong second place finish in the 50 free, followed by Lutton in fourth and Hagen in fifth. Eighth grader Sulistyo finished second in diving followed by Tigner in fifth and Lowe in sixth. In the 200 butterfly, Montgomery placed third and St. Clair fifth. In the 100 free Gloege placed third and M. Poppitz was fifth. Greseth finished second in his fast 500, followed by Gray in fourth and Fisher in sixth. The 200 relay team of Lambert, Lutton, Wefring, and St. Clair placed third followed by team Breimhurst, Dyakin, Chambers, and Lilly in fifth. M. Poppitz placed second in the backstroke, followed by Kunisaki in fifth. Lambert placed second in the 100 breaststroke, and Goldberg was sixth.
The junior varsity team also had a convincing win in their match against Prior Lake, besting that team in their home pool by a score of 104 to 47. Eastview’s JV 200 medley team of Friel, Portnov, Chambersm and Breimhurst posted a first place finish followed by team Kunisaki, Larson, Dyakin, and Hendrickson in second and team Hagen, Gant, Sturm and Swalve in third. Fisher touched for a first place finish in the JV 200 free followed by Wefring in second and Dressler in fourth. Eastview’s Smith and Lilly were second and third, respectively in the JV 200 IM. In the 50 free, Breimhurst placed second, Swalve fifth and newcomer Gloege Torp came in sixth. Dyakin, Lilly, and Chambers came in first, second, and third, respectively, in the JV 100 butterfly. In the JV 100 free, Wefring was first, Robinson third, and Portnov fourth. In the JV 200 free relay team Robinson, Gant, Hendrickson, and DeSutter came in first, followed by team Larson, Portnov, Fisher and Smith in second. In the JV backstroke, Arndt was first, Dressler third and Dyakin fourth. Gant, DeSutter and Robinson took second, third, and fourth respectively, in the JV breaststroke. Finishing up the night, team Fisher, Gloege Torp, Dressler, and Arndt won first place in the 400 relay, and team Clark, Kovacs, Salzell, and Erdman took third.
