Multiple Teams · Eastview Runners Compete at State

State CC

Congratulations to seniors Hannah Schwartz and Kevin Gunawan on completing their cross country careers for Eastview High School with solid performances at the MSHSL State Meet today.  On a an abnormally warm November afternoon, both runners were able to cope with the slow starts to their races and run strong throughout the competition.

Schwartz began the race in 37th place with a 5:57 first mile.  This put her right on the back of the lead pack of runners, in excellent position for the second half of the race.  She battled strongly during the last two miles holding her place relatively steady to finish in 43rd place with a time of 19:35.

Gunawan began his race in 57th place and moved up to 33rd by the second mile.  From here he was in a tough pack of runners vying for a top 25 finish.  Battling every step of the way he was able to finish in 40th place with a time of 16:41.1.

Congratulations to both runners on a successful season, and thank you for your leadership and dedication to the cross country programs over the past four years.
