Eastview High School
The section 3AA semi-finals did not end the way the Eastview Lightning wanted it to. Unfortunately for the Lightning their season ended with a 2-0 loss to the Eagan Wildcats.
The Wildcats jumped on the game early and scored in the very first minute of the game. The Wildcats struck again just before halftime. The Lightning were never able to get a goal back but were able to create a large number of chances.
The Lightning showed a lot of heart and determination down the stretch pressuring the Wildcats for the final forty minutes. The Wildcat goalkeeper was able to deflect a number of shots over the bar and keep a clean sheet for the match.
The Lighting finished the season tied for third in the very tough South Suburban Conference and the number three seed in the Section 3AA tournament. The Lightning finished with a final record of 9-4-3, which is impressive after dropping their first two games of the season. The Lightning only allowed ten goals against all season, which again is impressive if you factor in the first two games accounted for six of the goals.
This Senior class was as talented and deep as any class that has come through Eastview High School. Their efforts were appreciated and will be sorely missed. The Eastview Lightning Girls Soccer program would like to say thank you and wish them the best as they further their athletic and academic careers.
