Eastview High School
On Thursday February 19th at the Xcel Energy Center, the Eastview Girls Varsity Hockey team played Edina in the Class 2A Quarterfinals of the Minnesota Girls Hockey State Tournament. The huge Eastview crowd, taking up 4 sections made for a great atmosphere and helped set a State Tournament attendance record! The 1st Period was back and forth, shots on goal were even, and each team had a few scoring opportunities. 0-0 was the score at the 1st Intermission. Throughout the 2nd Period, Edina put pressure on the Lightning. About midway in the 2nd, Senior Goaltender Emma Tschida faced a flurry of high quality chances from the Hornets, but she turned every one of them away. Shots on goal after 2 periods were now 21 to 10 in favor of Edina, but the score remained 0-0. The Lightning came out strong in the 3rd and blows were exchanged by both teams. EV had some opportunities, but the Edina goalie made some big saves. The Hornets scored at 7:44 in the 3rd to take a 1 to 0 lead. Eastview kept working hard but just couldn’t get a goal past the Edina goalie. Final Score was Edina 1 Eastview 0. Goaltender Emma Tschida had an outstanding game as she made 34 saves. Eastview plays Forest Lake at 10:00 am on February 19th at Ridder Arena in the State Consolation Bracket.
