Thursday, the Eastview Boys Varsity hockey team lost to the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars in the Quarterfinals of the section 3AA playoffs 0 to 5. The Jaguars grabbed the momentum from the Lightning early in the game. Jefferson would score two goals in the first half of the first period. Eastview would battle back and create a few chances late in the period but couldn’t get a goal past the Jaguars’ goalie. The first period would end with Bloomington leading 2 to 0. The Lightning would get more chances in the second period but the Jaguars’ defense would stifle Eastview’s opportunities. Jefferson would increase their lead to three goals on a power-play opportunity in the middle of the second period. The Jaguars would gain the momentum early in the third period, adding to their lead at 4 to 0 with 14:00 left in the game. The Lightning would have a 5 on 3 power-play opportunity in the middle of the third period, but the Jaguars’ defense was up to the task and held Eastview scoreless. The Jaguars would add a fifth goal late in the period to bring the scoring to the final 5 to 0 mark in favor of Jefferson. The game marked the end of the high school hockey careers for seniors, Cole Anders, Connor Bateman, Alex Cerrato, Nick Hodgen, Bryce Kelly, and Andrew Stern.
