Game Recap
Thursday, the Eastview Boys Varsity hockey team lost to Burnsville in a South Suburban Conference matchup 4 to 6. The game would be a physical, fast-paced game from the start. Burnsville started the scoring a little over two minutes into the game taking a 1 to 0 lead. The Blaze would control much of the play for the first period. But, the Lightning would counter with their speed with 6:38 left in the first period to tie the score 1 to 1. Max Herzog would bury a goal setup by a nice passing play initiated by Jesse Fan and Cole Anders. Two and half minutes later Eastview’s speed and passing would give the Lightning a 2 to 1 lead. This time Nick Hodgen finished off a nice passing play setup by Anders and Nate Bordson. The first period would end with Eastview leading 2 to 1. The second period saw the Blaze battle back with two early goals to take a 3 to 2 lead. The lightning would even the score in the middle of the period. Anders would finish off a scramble in front of the Blaze goalie setup by Hodgen. The second period would end with the two teams tied 3 to 3. The Lightning would take a 4 to 3 lead over Burnsville less than three minutes into the third period. Bordson would finish off a play setup by Hodgen in front of the Blaze goalie. The lead was short lived as Burnsville tied the game a minute and half later. The Blaze would grab the momentum and score two minutes later with 10:32 left in the game to take the a 5 to 4 lead. Eastview would mount a late attack, pulling their goalie with a little more than two minutes left in the game. The Blaze would control a bouncing puck late that they converted into an empty net goal with 1 second showing on the game clock to secure the 6 to 4 victory. Eastview next plays Shakopee Saturday February 6th in Shakopee at 3:00PM.
