Eastview Girls Basketball to State: Tuesday, March 18th at Target Center – Details Below
Congrats to the Varsity Girls Basketball team who with their 65-39 win over Park last Thursday night have advanced to the Class AAAA State Quarterfinals for the 7th time in school history! They received the #1 seed and will take on St. Paul Central on Tuesday, March 18th at Target Center at 10:00 a.m. As a result of the game time there will be an early release or exempt absence process. Please below for the details as well as the attached permission slip to return on MONDAY!
Here is the plan for students planning to attend the tournament as spectators:
PERMISSION SLIP TO ATTEND: A copy of the permission slip is located at the bottom of this info. Students need to turn in their signed permission slip to the Attendance Office or Designated Tables in the Commons on Monday before school, Monday during lunch, Monday after school or as a last resort Tuesday morning prior to 7:30 a.m. With a signed permission slip students will be dismissed AFTER First Hour on Tuesday at 8:20 a.m. and will be returning approximately 12:15 p.m. Students will miss hours 2-5 and will return to class right after the game. Expected return time is 12:15 for the last 20 minutes of 5th hour. As a result of the time students attending the game will need to eat at Target Center as they will not likely have any time for lunch upon returning to EVHS. The absence will be considered EXEMPT and not count towards the maximum absence policy IF they ride a fan bus OR if they do not ride a fan bus they need to return their ticket stub and permit to leave form to the Attendance Office prior to 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. If you do not ride a fan bus or if you do not ride a fan bus and do return the ticket stub and permit to leave form the absence will count toward the maximum absence policy. If the permission form is returned to the attendance office following the tournament, it will NOT be accepted. NO PHONE CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED AS PERMISSION FROM PARENTS FOR AN EXEMPT ABSENCE. Students are responsible for all missed classwork.
TICKETS: Advance Sale tickets will be available for purchase before and after school and during lunch on Monday and before school on Tuesday. Tickets are general admission and will also be available at Target Center, but purchasing them in advance will save you some potential long lines. Anyone riding a fan bus is required to buy their game ticket in advance as the ticket windows can’t handle that much demand at one time. Cost of tickets for all state tournament games is $14 for adults and $9 for students.
FAN BUS: We will offer fan buses that will depart at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and return after the game (approximately 12:15 p.m.) The cost of the fan bus is $5 per person. Due to this entire event taking place during the school day, limited parking during a work day in downtown Minneapolis, safety of driving downtown, and the very busy and lengthy Light Rail Transit option, riding a fan bus is strongly encouraged and expected for all students planning on attending. Students interested in riding a fan bus must sign-up before school or during lunch in the Commons on Monday or in the Main Office during the school day or after school on Monday by 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 17th to guarantee a seat. This timeline is needed to order buses, arrange chaperones and purchase bus parking permits. Everyone who signs up by the deadline will have a seat on bus. We will have a very limited number of remaining fan bus seats available Tuesday before school, but anyone waiting until then to sign-up is not guaranteed a spot on a bus. We can’t possibly order additional buses Tuesday with such a short turnaround time until departure. Everyone who rides the bus to the game is also required to ride it home.
SEMIS AND FINALS: With a win Tuesday the team will earn a trip to the State Semifinals at Williams Arena on Thursday, March 20th at approximately 6:00 p.m. vs. the winner of #4 Eden Prairie and #5 Anoka. The State Championship will be played Saturday evening at approximately 8:00 p.m. at Williams Arena and the 3rd place game is at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Concordia University.
WEBCAST AND TV COVERAGE: If you are unable to attend, but would like to tune in here are those details: The Quarterfinals on Tuesday will be on audio only webcast on www.mnsportsnetwork.com. The semifinals and finals will be both broadcast on Channel 45 as well as webcast on www.prep45.com.
