The JV Girls Basketball team got back on the winning track Thursday night with a convincing 72-18 victory over Kennedy. The score was 8-7 when the Lightning went on a 30-0 run to go into halftime with 38-7 lead. Rachel Ranke scored 22 points in the first half. Despite being in foul trouble, Allie Pickrain scored 14 points. Paula Garcia had 4 steals and 7 points. Jena Plagens scored 8 points. Other scorers were Ilea Decker with 6, Emma Sinn with 5 in one half of play, Emma Kiley with 4 and Sarah Gill and Brittney Sjulstad with 3 each. Sjulstad, Kiley and Sinn were the leading rebounders. Melissa Barry provided defensive spark and broke down Kennedy’s defense to set up her teammates for easy looks. The girls are now 11-1 on the season.
