The JV Girls Basketball team lost their first game of the season last night to Lakeville South by a score of 53-58. The Lightning played very hard but struggled against South’s pressure and had a rough night on the free throw line. Allie Pickrain led the scoring with 13 points. Brittney Sjulstad just missed a double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Jena Plagens added 7 rebounds and 3 points. Sarah Gill played solid defense and did a nice job attacking the basket and handling South’s pressure. Emma Sinn contributed 5 rebounds in one half of play. Also scoring for the Lightning were Rachel Ranke, Paula Garcia, Melissa Barry and Sinn. The team is looking forward to a rematch later this year.
The Lightning will be at home this Thursday at 5:30 pm, to face their conference rival, Bloomington Kennedy. Its Cane’s Challenge night on Thursday as well.
