Once again the boys soccer game was a classic. For the fourth straight game the Lightning Boys chose the come from behind, never give up method of play. Unfortunately this time in the end the bounce did not go their way. For soccer fans (and just sports fans in general) this game had everything you would ever want in a State Championship game and then some. Every time the Polars gained an advantage the Lightning dug deep and somehow found a way to tie the score, including a goal with just three minutes left that sent the game to overtime. In both overtime periods as well as throughout the game both teams had several scoring chances, but either just missed or were stopped by outstanding goaltending. When the two overtime periods had expired both teams had several players just lay on the field from exhaustion as they had truly left it all on the field. The shootout went the way of the Polars when all five made their shots and one of the Lightning shots bounced off the post. The team has so much to be proud of from their third straight state championship game appearance to the incredible heart they showed in coming from behind time and time again tonight. Congrats to the entire team and Coaching Staff on an incredible season.
